Our Past Few Days

I recently enjoyed a Ladies’ Luncheon with my two oldest girls at a nearby church. A group of Ladies from our church also attended. The speaker did a good job with the theme “Prayer”. We found out she had written several songs…a couple of which our girls have sung. We were served lunch by the men of the church. When we arrived back at home a surprise awaited us…a clean house! Gerald has kept the four younger ones and together they had cleaned the house. Gerald had even dejunked his dresser, gun cabinet and computer armoire and dusted our room! I told him I thought it was a good idea to do that at least once every other year and he eagerly agreed. :)
The next day (Sunday) Gerald preached at the Denton Farmpark for the service following the Bluegrass Festival. Since the festival ended on Saturday we didn’t really expect a large crowd. But we were surprised to see the number of campers that hadn’t left yet show up for the 9:00 church service. There was a sweet spirit in the service and most stayed around to fellowship afterwards. Gerald’s brother and his family were there and Gerald’s brother’s father and mother-in-law (owners of the farmpark). Gerald will be preaching there again this month after the Horse and Mule Day, which is October 25. The girls love singing in this little country church. They didn’t need sound equipment, because of the acoustics. Our softest singer could still be heard over he piano.
Gerald preached this last Sunday at his home church and did devotion Monday night at a nursing home in Archdale. Our youth in our church gather there the first Monday of each month for songs and devotions with the residents. Our choir director usually does the devotions; Gerald was filling in while our director helped with the sound equipment at the High Point Camp Meeting.
We were able to make it to the first night of Campmeeting after leaving the nursing home. Services started at 7:00 and we got there at 7:06. It was a real good service. The campmeeting lasts 2 weeks, Monday through Friday, 7:00 each night.
God bless you all,
~Vicky~
