What do I do?

Hey! My name is Shanna. I am 20 years old and I was home schooled all 13 years. I am thankful the Lord graciously saved me in my youth. He has never failed me. Salvation is the best thing that has ever happened to me.

My sisters and I love to sing and play instruments at our local church. One of my sisters plays the piano and mandolin. I play the guitar. My dad is the pastor, and holds true and stands firm to God’s infallible Word. The 1611 King James Translation. Praise the Lord for sending us His precious Word. We must read it and heed it!

“ What do you do, now that you’re out of school?” People have been asking me this question now for three years. I always tell them that I help my mother around the house and with the younger children. They will sometimes then ask me, “Well, then, how do you fill up your days. There’s more to life than just housework. How do you plan to succeed in life?” Well, really I’m never “bored.” I enjoy my “work” or rather my ministry, at home. The Lord has given me a love for the home. I’m training to be a “keeper at home” Titus 2:5 says “ To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” What better place to train for that than being my mom’s helper. If I wasn’t home, I couldn’t help my mother teach my seven and ten year old sisters, their school. It is really a lot of fun teaching, sometimes, because I’ve found out, they’re learning things that wasn’t even put in my text books. I’m thankful for the time I have with my 15-year-old sister. It’s funny how we all live in the same house, do the same things, but yet are so different. I guess that’s how God made us and it keeps life interesting. From being a “keeper at home,” the Lord has allowed me to learn so much. Both Biblical and constructional. The Lord has placed some godly Christian ladies in my path to teach me: how to sew, quilt, decorate cakes, make embellishments for the home (such as curtains, pillows, wall hangings and baskets). The Lord has been so good to me. He has given me opportunities to use these talents in our church as well. My mother is my best teacher. She’s a good example of a mom, wife, sister and friend. She trains in love, and when you come from a family our size, sometime there’s a lot of training. My mother and I have some one on one talks and I cherish these moments. It blesses my heart to be able to lift some of her burdens of the home so we can do more ministering to others now. By helping with meals and laundry, mom is “free” to concentrate on some things only she can do, of which we all benefit.

There is plenty to do for the Lord if you let Him work in your life. May the Lord bless you as we serve the Lord ‘til He comes. He could come today!!!
