We’re back from Shanna’s cardiologist appointment. They put her back on the tilt table and she did the same thing a gain…she passed out in the first 15 minutes. They came out and asked our permission to do the Nitroglycerin drops under her tongue to make her go out again with the cardiologist right by her this time, instead of just the physician’s assistant. They assured us it would not hurt or damage her heart. To make a long story short-she passed out again, had an EKG done and an echocardiogram (ECG) to view her heart. He reported to us that she has a healthy heart. Her condition is called Vaso Depressor Syncope, which means under the right circumstances the arteries in her legs dilate instead of constricting and all the blood from her heart pools in her legs. With not enough pumping to her heart, then her brain suffers too…thus she passes out.
He offered to put her on prescription medication right away, but we asked about a natural alternative. He said to go that route then she needs to increase her water and salt intake, not stand for long periods of time, and drink plenty of fluids before and after exercising, then rest with feet up. There were a few other instructions, but these were the main ones. He wants to see her back in 6 months unless she passes out a couple more times before that time.
Please pray the salt and water works. We are praising God for a healthy heart!!

I'm glad to hear the good report. Shanna...does this mean you shouldn't drive? I'm just curious.
Laura :)
