Tuesday, September 4th, was the first day of school for the girls, and the first day of work for Dad at his new job. Mom made pancakes for breakfast, and Dad left at 7:30. When everyone was completely ready, we went to the living room for devotions. Afterwards we went to the school room over at “Shanna’s World.” I took the “first day of school” pictures, and then class began.
Faith was a funny one to watch. This was her first year in preschool. Mom was teaching her about her senses, and how her mind is like a picture. The conversation went something like this…
Mom: What does your dad look like?
Faith: I don’t know
Mom: Yes you do. What color is his hair?
Faith: Black.
Mom: Yes! What color is his skin?
Faith: White.
Mom: Good! See? You pictured him in your mind! Now, what does he look like?
Faith: He wears a shirt and pants.
Mom: Yes…Umm…What does Boomer (my cousin’s dog) look like?
Faith: He’s brown.
Mom: See? You’re thinking about him in your mind!
Faith: I’m not thinking about him!
Mom: Yes you are.
Faith: No I wasn’t.
Mom: What are you thinking about then?
Faith: I’m thinking about my cats!
Mom: (Hands on face) I don’t think we’re getting anywhere.
Then later…
Mom: Faith, close your eyes, and I’ll tell you something.
Faith: Ok.
Mom: I love you, Faith. Did you hear me?
Faith: Yes.
Mom: See? You hear with your ears, not with your eyes. You don’t have to be looking in order to hear. Now you say something to me.
Faith: Iyagheagooah! (Faith was a little embarrassed to do this with her sisters nearby.)
Mom: I heard you, Faith! :) You are so much fun to teach!
Later Mom was asking Faith what God lets her do with her ears, and she said, “Pop.” Mom asked her what she meant and she said her ears pop in the car. :) (We knew she meant when we’re traveling through the mountains.)
Later on that day our cat Tar Heal had a litter of six kittens, but one was born dead. Tar Heal isn’t taking care of any of them and they’re getting very weak. We tried bottle feeding them, but they won’t take it. A couple are dying right now.
Tuesday evening a family came and got the whole pile of metal junk that was at our house and hauled it off for us. That was a relief to Mom, who can’t stand clutter.
Dad is really enjoying his new job. This week and next he is having training, and then he will work for 3 weeks while being watched to make sure he understands what he’s doing. He has a test today and one next Friday.
Today is Mom and Dad’s 22nd anniversary. Dad asked Mom what she wanted for her anniversary and Mom answered that she didn’t want any “thing” just a long walk with him. Shanna and I are gonna make sure they take it. Mom and I wanted to surprise Dad by having the lawn mowed when he got home. This was Mom’s anniversary gift to him so he would be free on Friday evening. You know lawn mowers, it had to be worked on before we could finish, but it’s done now.
While I was fixing Faith’s hair this morning, she asked me what an anniversary was. I told her it was the celebration of Mom and Dad’s wedding. She asked me why they had a wedding, and I told her, “So they could get married and have children.” “What did they name her?” She asked. “Faith,” I replied. “They named her just like me?” “She was you!” “Oh, wow!” :)
Well, I need to get to the school. To grade papers that is.

The "school conversation" was very funny. :-) Thanks for sharing the pictures and about your week.

Kristen,
You're very welcome! I thought the conversation was very funny, too! :)

Try eyedrops for the kittens. You will have to force feed them until they have the strength. They make special nursing bottles animals if you don't have one.
Brandy,
We had a special bottle to feed the kittens. But they were just too weak when we found that Tarheal couldn't produce milk. They all died that week. :( I wish we could have saved some of them.
