Gera, Gera, Gera

Since Gera is mostly in charge of keeping this blogsite up-to-date, I’m gonna have to blog a little about her for a moment.
When we first moved back here to NC Gerald Sr. was still weak and on pain medicines and other meds. The mowing only had to be done every other week because of the drought and 90’s and 100+ weather we were having. It takes 4 hours to push mow our yard, but Shanna and I love to do it. We haven’t gotten to push mow much in the last 6 years while we were on MD though. The first 4 years we were in a town house and my husband said it took longer to start the mower than to mow. Most of our yard was walkway or cement patio area. So he did the mowing. Then the last two years we lived behind the church and he mowed the church yard and our yard. (Except when he got sick.)
Now back to Gera. I was lining up the outdoor word, and asked Gera to start the mowing while I taught the girls their school for the day. I got the gas out and began to walk away when Gera ran up to me and said, “Two questions. How do you start it and how do you mow?” I would have laughed, but I realized she was serious. I had forgotten she was only 10 when we moved from here to MD and since me, Gerald and Shanna mowed she had never been needed to help. So I gave her a crash course on lawn mowing. I then ran inside to “share” the news with Shanna and we both laughed out loud.

Haha, I've never push-mowed either! I have ridden a mower, but now we only have a push-mower...and with four older brothers, I was never asked to do that chore. :)
