Our Past Week Part 1

Whew! What a fun week and weekend! Let me start on Sunday.
After Church Sunday night we went to another nearby church that was having some special Labor Day services. We met a family, the Dices, that we had previously seen somewhere, but had never actually had the chance to speak to them before now. Their daughter is a year younger than me. I had a good time talking to her and her mother. Come to find out, they had just moved from another place in NC, and they had attended the same Church as a friend of mine! Plus they knew another family I know. :) It’s a small world, isn’t it?
After the first service, which Bro. Dice had preached, we went to the fellowship hall for a delicious meal, and saw a missionary couple, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Pickens, who had recently been at our church presenting his work. When we went back inside the church, Dad met a Filipino missionary (to the Philippines,) and found out that he knew a Filipino pen-pal of mine! (3 Filipino missionaries came to our church about 7 or 8 years ago, and one man asked me to write to his daughter. We’ve been corresponding ever since.) I was so amazed to find someone that knew a friend of mine, even from overseas!! :) I repeat my statement from earlier: this is a small world! :)
We had a second service after the meal, and it was over at 11:30pm. It was all good! :) A pastor there set up a meeting with Dad to preach at his church.
We got home and were in bed by 12:30am. Needless to say, we were very tired, and slept in a little longer than usual on Monday. We had planned to go fishing at a neighbor’s pond on Labor Day, but since we got a late start, we decided to do that some other day. Instead, we decided to go to a nearby park.

It is a small world. :) We met the Dices several years ago at a Christian radio share-a-thon.

That sounds like great fun! My family and I enjoy having 'family day's' out and about, too! Of course, it isn't quite the same with the guys gone, but it's still a lot of fun!
Looking forward to hearing about more Miller adventures!
