A Goodly Heritage

Thought I’d better take a moment to give you a Miller update. Gerald’s parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary August 14. We celebrated with a cookout at our house in the wooded area the kids named “Shady Court.” The grandkids put on a skit for them, sang “The Miller Family” (to the tune of the Addams Family) and then sang “I Have a Goodly Heritage.” We presented Wayne and Pearl with a booklet of 50 reminders of LOVE from verses in the Bible, and a bag full of 50 candy bars with a card that read “How do we love you, let us count the ways…” and it tallied up all the candy bars. The grandkids did a great job on a banner for decoration. It included a drawing of each family member. Other decorations included a poster of the #50 done with one dollar bills, and “Fifty Years in Love” spelled out with quarters, nickels, dimes and pennies (50 each.) They ended the evening with a re-enactment of their ring ceremony (accompanied by ring pops) and their grandchildren as wedding attendants, then a cake cutting. We all had a great time. We really do have a Goodly Heritage.
