Gerald's Accident

Last Thursday evening (September 3) Gerald Sr. had an accident while weed eating (without safety glasses.) A piece of the weed eater cord slung up into his right eye. He instantly lost his sight in that eye. Shanna and Gerald’s dad rushed him to the Thomasville ER and they sent him to Baptist ER and called in an eye specialist. Thankfully his eye was saved and he has regained most of his sight. He’s had 3 doctor appointments so far and goes back Tuesday. He hasn’t been released to drive or go back to work yet. He has many restrictions to keep it from hemorrhaging. Can’t look down or bend his head down, can’t lay flat on his back, no lifting, driving working, or reading. Shanna has been helping him get his sermons up by reading scripture out to him and taking notes for him. Gera then types the notes up in a large font so he can see it. I got his notes up for his Sunday School lesson and Gera typed those up for him too. He told us he’s never preached this way before, but we were all excited about getting to help him. Referring to a statement in a recent movie we had watched, I asked him, “Are you willing to serve God with one eye if he chooses not to give you back your sight?” He answered “Definitely.” Gerald told me he has had such peace from the moment the accident happened, and I told him I’ve enjoyed that same peace. God is so GOOD! Gerald’s parents have been so great. Wayne has taken Gerald to all his appointments, ran errands, picked up meals for us, mowed and taken our garbage to the dump, and Pearl has cooked for us, helped give Gerald his eye drops and brought groceries, If God had not already been so good to us, yesterday Gerald’s brother and nephew came bringing us a queen-size pillow top mattress. Did we ever rest well last night! Gerald Jr. took his nap on it today, too.
Please pray for Gerald’s full recover of his eyesight as God wills it.
Thanks!
~Vicky~

So sorry to hear about Mr. Miller. Funny thing I felt burdened to pray for you all a couple of days ago. I just found out why! We will keep praying. May the Lord encourage you all through this hard time. Across the Kilometers..
