I was joking with my friend Courtney when I saw her at the meetings, and told her that I had just put an update on the blog, and so I wouldn’t put another one on for 2 weeks. Little did I know that it would take me OVER 2 weeks before I put something on here! Sorry, readers!
Our house is starting to look more like a home now. Our room is clean (amazing, huh? :) ) and there are just a couple of boxes in the hallway, Mom has scrubbed the kitchen floor, I have scrubbed the windows, Dad has scrubbed the van, etc. :) We (Shanna, Mom and I have ordered and received 4 new rolls of a border for Shanna’s and my room. We’re not going to put it up though until we’ve painted the walls, doors and trim.
Last Monday evening we went with our pastor and some other members from church to a nursing home near the church. Our church sings and has devotions there the first Monday of every month. We really enjoyed it, and it seemed the residents did, too. Afterwards we went back to the church fellowship hall and ate pizza, and put together “Thank You” books for everyone that helped with the week of meetings we had about three weeks ago. We had a great time, but we ran out of glue, so we had to quit and finish them later. We looked at pictures from the wedding of a young couple who were married in June.
On Wednesday Sarah, Gerald Jr. and I ran some errands with Dad. On the way home we hit something small that was in the road (not an animal,) and two minutes later I heard something go “BmBmm! BmBmm!”! looked out the window, and saw that our right rear tire was completely flat. While I was watching, the hubcap came off. Dad pulled over and retrieved the cap, and started to change the tire. “No big deal,” I thought. “He’ll have the spare back on in a jiffy, and we’ll be back on the road.” Yeah, right. Wouldn’t you know it? From all the salt on the roads during winter in Maryland, our wheel had rusted to whatever it was attached to. Dad didn’t have any trouble getting the what-cha-ma-call-it nuts off, but the silly tire refused to come off. Oh, and before all that, our thing-a-ma-jig wouldn’t raise the van, and Dad had also said he needed a certain gizmo to pound all the rust off. (You can probably tell I don’t know anything about mechanics. :) ) He couldn’t get it off, so he called AAA. That took “forever”. We told them we were on “Old Highway__”, but someone told the serviceman we were on “New Highway__”. To make a long story short, Dad’s dad came and got us kids to drive us home. The serviceman got there right before we left. I found out later that the serviceman had to call another man from work, because he didn’t have the proper tools with him. (He came straight from another call.) What they ended up doing was going to a gas station in the serviceman’s truck and buying some WD40, applied it to the wheel, tied a what-cha-ma-doodle to it, and the other end to a nearby tree, and pulled the tire off. Well, at least it worked! :) We pulled off the side of the road at around 2:00, and it was around 5:30 before Dad got home. Whew! Busy day! Dad barely had time to eat and shower before Wednesday night services.
Well, this blog post is long enough for one day. Maybe even two weeks! :)
See ya later!

Sharon,
Glad you like to read my posts! I'd like to be able to put more on during the week, but we get so busy, and we still don't have internet at our house.
God bless you!

Hi Gera!
I enjoyed reading your new post. :-)
Sounds like you all had an adventurous Wednesday!
Our house here is now for sale...can't wait to be on our way to NC!! :-) I'll try to email you today.
Kristen
Almost glad to know we aren't the only one's having car trouble. My car over heats and now I have almost lost my breaks. Pray that Nathan gets his SSI to start real soon so we can see if we can't get a car at the same place we got Reid's truck. They have a small SUV (more room!!) there.
Glad my dad taught me how to change a tire though. But I think I would still end up calling the Insurance Company, just in case.
Kristen,
Great to hear from you again! You know what? I was planning on emailing you today! I guess I'll just wait on yours now! :)
Glad you finally have your house up for sale! Can't wait to see you!!!
Brandy,
Hope you get your car back to working. We'll be praying!
Gera
